Eating in Glen Waverley

When people ask me how I enjoyed a conference, I always give them a report on the meals, the highlights of the day.

Had a cooked breakfast each day at the Burvale Hotel where I was staying with Bruce Moore. For only $5 we served up with bacon and eggs on toast with our choice of latte, flat white or cappuccino, with enough copies of the local newspapers to fill us in on the night’s tennis matches. Not flash and you sit right next to the silent pokie machines. But great value for money. What made it even better was having the Western Australian contingent join us.

Had lunch with Ken Morgan of CRM at Mocha Jo’s Cafe/Bar/Restaurant, on the corner in Kingsway, Glen Waverley. It was a popular place and despite the cold there were people prepared to eat alfresco rather than wait for a table inside. They specialise in Mediterranean. With that in mind I went for the Gnocchi Neapolitan. It was an excellent choice. No shortage of attentive service. As we walked out after paying we were farewelled with the words, “See you again soon”. If I lived in Glen Waverley I’d be saying ‘Sure thing’.

Had dinner at the Mountain View Hotel on the corner of Springvale Rd and High St in Glen Waverley, just over the road from The Glen Shopping Centre. I was with five others from Queensland and we were keen to find a good meal at a reasonable price. We ended up in the restaurant area, paying $14.95 for a decent size roast meal. A notch above the typical bistro pub meal but of course a notch above in price!
