Queensland Synod 2005
This week has its share of stresses - mostly linked with the coming Synod gathering being held at Emmanuel College here on the Gold Coast. I’m responsible for the running of 43 groups of 8 people - finding leaders, fine tuning the questions for discussion and voting. On Saturday we look at the Synod’s Vision for Mission - resourcing new missional initiatives. On Monday we explore the link between property, finance and mission, using Edward de Bono’s coloured hats to consider several approaches to the tension between congregational rights and the Synod’s responsibility to resource new missional communities.
It all starts on Friday. In the meantime I’m having a pastor/parent conversation at Jubilee School tomorrow morning - a chance for parents of students to sit down with a local Uniting Church minister. And then I’m talking to a full school assembly at AB Paterson College - from 5 year olds to 18 year olds. The theme is perseverance. There will be a connection with the Special Olympics coming up.
When I have time I’ll be editing a couple of PowerPoint presentations as well as some video footage of two of our missional leaders, one at the Portuguese soccer club, the other talking about his faith conversations in his local street.
