Breathe emerges online in Canada

Just read an online article on “Breathe”, an emerging Christian community based in Richmond, BC, Canada. Frank Stirk has written up the church at CanadianChristianity.com

Phil Harbridge, previously a youth worker at Vancouver’s First Baptist Church, worked with other to develop “Inhale” (in the home) and “Exhale” (in the pub). He’s online at philharbridge.com and is blogging at Paradox Porch.

The group’s web site is www.breatheonline.org. There they describe themselves as follows:

Who We Are

We are a group of friends and acquaintances. We recognise that time is precious. It matters how you spend it. We want to know the woman next door, the guy in the next cubical, the dreadlocked barista at the coffee shop. We are people who like life: we laugh, we fight, get bored, get inspired. We make music, we make soup, help each other move, paint each other’s houses. We read good novels, laze in the sun, play scrabble in the rain. We are people who want to worship God, and talk to God, and listen to God, because we believe He is very fond of us. We are people who openly admit we are not entirely sure what that means, but we can’t let go of the assurance that Jesus was dead and came back to life. We are people who learn not from a leader but from one another. We say, “I was wrong.” We look twice at something that catches our eye. We are explorers. We seek.

Our Mission

As people created for community, and through our dependence on the living God, we seek to inspiret the imagination, refresh the soul, and nurture the body, all within the context of deep, interdependent relationships.
