Emerging Women ReGathering
Today’s Emergent/C Newsletter has an article on the recent Emerging Women conference, Emergent Women’s Round Barn ReGathering near Indianapolis. The theme of the gathering, ‘Jeans That Fit’, provided a metaphor for the struggle of women to fit in the church.
A blog, Emerging Women, has been developed to follow on from the network developed there. This blog is a space for women involved in the emerging church conversation to use their voice. “This is a space to voice your thoughts, express your opinions, and practice your theology. This is a safe community where we can complain, deconstruct, brainstorm, network, dream, and encourage.”
I wonder if there’s room for something similar in Australia? In New Zealand? Or is already happening?

I think one of the glaring issues for the Emerging Church is the perpetuation of the gender imbalance. We face that even within our own network. In fact, I face that even with my blog links. I have tried to balance things out within my own circle of influence but its damn hard. Just doesn’t seem to be enough women within the conversation.
