Rob Bell Drops Like Stars Down Under

Rob Bell, the presenter in the Nooma videos, and pastor at Mars Hill in Grand Rapids, is bringing his “Drops Like Stars” tour to New Zealand and Australia in April 2010 (NOTE: NOW MOVED TO JUNE 2010). Rob’s going to be talking about the connection between suffering and creativity, telling the stories of people who reached new heights of inspiration in the middle of their pain.

Rob Bell Drops Like Stars

Rob provides a quick summary of his book and the tour…

We plot, we plan, we assume things are going to go
A certain way and then they don’t and we find ourselves
In a new place, a place we haven’t been before, a place
We never would have imagined on our own,

And so it was difficult and unexpected and maybe even
Tragic and yet it opened us up and freed us to see
Things in a whole new way

Suffering does that—
It hurts,
But it also creates.

How many of the most significant moments in your
Life came not because it all went right, but because
It all fell apart?

It’s strange how there can be art in the agony

The Drops Like Stars tour is a two
Hour exploration of the endlessly complex
Relationship between suffering and creativity
And I’d love to see you there.

  1. How do we get on the list to be on of the first to know about the tickets. If there is only one show in Melbourne we don’t want to miss out.

  2. just wanted to know why the tour to adelaide is not on for april 14th and is there dates soon for the june ones as love to see him on tour as daugher saw the tour in london the other week and said how awsome it is

  3. If anyone has any way of confirming dates for Australia that would be awesome. Can’t wait to hear and see him and will be telling all of my friends.

  4. For those who are missing out on Rob Bell’s tours please don’t grieve too much as you would be better off by not being exposed to his heretical perverted slant on Christianity. Along with his emergent associates his stuff smells of smoke that arises from the domain of the arch-deceiver.

  5. i wish he was coming to Adelaide in June 2010 and why is this happening as it was in the first program as we seem to miss out here in Adelaide and there is a lot of people who would love to see him but cant then get to Melbourne for this so can this be a possabilty still to come to Adelaide PLEASE

  6. Sandra, Have a close look at this video clip that exposes Rob Bell’s false teaching. Recall that the Lord said it is what comes out of a man’s mouth that reveals what’s in his heart. The Lord is about constructing His church. Rob Bell and his emergent associates are about de-constructing what the Lord has built. They’re on a lost quest but they will deceive many. Don’t be one of them.

  7. Roland I’ve had a look at the video by Cameron Buettel and I think he’s presented the Dust excerpt out of context. The point Rob makes is that we shouldn’t let our insecurities about ourselves get in the way of following Jesus.

  8. Hi Sandra, Thanks for your comment. Two points in your comment that I would like you to really consider.
    1. The excerpt “Rob Bell Exposed” is solely concerned with highlighting Rob’s blatant twisting of the truth of where Peter’s lack of faith was. The interpretation that Rob put on that particular event in the Gospel must be seen in the context of Scripture and not in the context of “Dust” (which is contrived by Rob Bell and dosen’t carry any authority in contrast with the authority of the Bible).
    2. With respect to our ‘insecurities getting in the way of following Jesus’ let me say two things.
Firstly, it’s not so much insecuities that get in the way but rather our our over confidence in ourselves (the natural man) that gets in way. This was Peter’s problem as is clearly shown in the Gospels.
Secondly, rather than just being a follower of our Lord Jesus (another faulty teaching of emergents), walk with Him as a servant walks with the master. As a true and faithful (to Him not ourselves) disciple of Christ just consider who it is that we walk with. The Lord of Lords, King of Kings, and the sovereign God of eternity. The list goes on! What was the outcome of the experience of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus when they encountered the Lord Jesus in their walk? Did not their “hearts burn within them” consuming their insecurities of recent events. So it will be with us when we walk with Him and His Word. Truth revealed by the Holy Spirit and not by smooth talking emergents.
By the way, when Rob Bell trys to engage your mind his knowledge of the Hebrew, it is not with Biblical Hebrew but Rabbinical sayings that were dated some many hundreds of years post the closing of the Holy Scriptures.
    Don’t be decieved!

  9. My prayer is that Christians & Non Believers are not deceived by Rob Bell and his teachings. His low view of scripture and understanding of scripture makes me sick.
