Christmas – We Are Not Alone

For Christmas this year the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod, has produced over 300,000 Christmas postcards to be distributed to homes throughout the state. The cards display Christmas service and event times for local Uniting Churches and are individually tailored to participating congregations. The theme, Christmas: we are not alone, was chosen as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas - We Are Not Alone

Uniting Church Communications Manager Bruce Mullan said the Christmas campaign was an important opportunity for churches and local communities to connect. “”Christmas is such a great time to encourage people to focus on what is really matters in life,” said Mr Mullan. “Families, friends, and spending quality time together are all part of the “We are not alone” theme. “Christmas is also the best time to link up with others in the community who share the same values and believe there is something more than the nine-to-five rush of life in the 21st Century.”

Queensland Synod Moderator Rev Dr David Pitman is keen to promote relationships between the church and local communities. “Connecting with the community is an important task for the local congregation. The Christmas card campaign is an innovative way of giving congregations a more public profile,” said Dr Pitman.
