Dove continues the Campaign for Real Beauty with a new video, Onslaught, showing the media messages that will bombard young girls as they make their way to womanhood. The 2 minute video is a follow up to the award-winning Dove Evolution and Daughters ads from 2006.
The Onslaught video begins with an 18 second close up of a red headed young girl. The tension builds, aided by the Simian lyrics, “Here it comes…” All of a sudden we’re bombarded with images from TV, print and outdoor advertising campaigns for lingerie, weight loss, lipstick, exercise regimes, skin treatment and plastic surgery. As the girl joins her peers crossing the road, we’re left the words, “Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does”. Canadian parents are encouraged to download self esteem programs at www.campaignforrealbeauty.ca. Others are directed to the local equivalent.

The Dove Onslaught ad was developed at Ogilvy Canada, Toronto, by creative directors Janet Kestin and Nancy Vonk, associate creative directors/copywriters/art directors Tim Piper and Mike Kirkland, art directors Stuart Campbell and Sharon Lee Pan, executive agency producer Brenda Surminski, agency producer Jeff McDougal.

The spot features the track, La Breeze, recorded by English electronic rock group Simian, since disbanded and regrouped as Simian Mobile Disco. La Breeze was also featured in a TV advert for the Peugeot 1007.
