MTV Australia Welcomes Snoop Dogg

MTV Australia ran an integrated advertising campaign earlier this year focused on the suggestion that US rapper Snoop Dogg was planning to move to Australia. Earlier in 2007 Snoop Dogg visited Sydney to shoot pictures for the campaign, appearing with model Sophie Monk as his fictional partner investigating property. The print and video campaign was designed to lead up to Snoop Dogg appearing at the MTV Australia music video awards in April. Unfortunately Snoop’s re-entry into Australia was denied by the Australian Federal Government in the wake of his drug-related convictions. The campaign became a movement to gain citizenship for Snoop, hosted online at www.mtv.com.au/snoop and www.myspace.com/voteforsnoop

For True Sound Evolve to TDK

TDK Australia is continuing with the ‘Evolve’ theme with a set of print advertisements encouraging readers to check out the company’s range of audio gear. Each of the posters shows a likeness of a well known rock star, Ozzy Osbourne, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams, with the words “For True Sound Evolve to TDK”. The campaign follows a 1999 campaign, Square eyes, big ears’, a 2005 campaign, “Evolve into a TV Star” competition, and “Chrysalis” (TV spot directed by Joel Pront).

Volkswagen Ultimatum for Jason Bourne

Volkswagen finds its way into the Bourne Ultimatum film launch with a series of tie-ins featuring the VW GT and the Touareg 2. In “Getaway Car” Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) and Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) get into a Volkswagen GT only to find themselves in the sights of a sniper. Through clever driving they manage to escape, leaving the sniper nauseated. The GT is the official Getaway car for the Bourne Ultimatum. In “NYPD” Jason Bourne careens around New York in the VW Touareg 2, trying to outrun an army of police cars. As he collides with a cop car, both vehicles flip through the air landing in a heap. Next thing we see is the Bourne character next to the Touareg seemingly unscathed and about to hurl an expletive, when the VW tag line flashes… “Safe Happens.”
