Evanescence Call Me When You’re Sober

The Evanescence single, “Call Me When You’re Sober,” was officially released online on August 7, only weeks after filming. The track is the first single from the new album, “Open Door”. Amy Lee, one of the founding members of Evanescence, wrote “Call Me When You’re Sober,” in response to the alcohol addiction of her former boyfriend, Shaun Morgan, lead singer of Seether. The music video puts the song in the context of a dark fairy tale reminiscent of Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast.

Filming was set in the Pantages Theatre, Hollywood, Los Angeles. Amy Lee sits at a long dining room table opposite a ‘wolf man’ character played by Oliver Goodwill. The band plays in the wings as we see Lee in her dressing room and the dining room. Dancers join the troupe as Amy lee walks down the theatre’s stairs. The video reaches its climax as Amy Lee walks the length of the dining room table, kicking dishes off to the left and right.

[Chorus]
Don’t cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

Should I let you fall?
Lose it all?
So maybe you can remember yourself.
Can’t keep believing,
We’re only deceiving ourselves .
And I’m sick of the lie,
And you’re too late.

[Chorus]

Couldn’t take the blame.
Sick with shame.
Must be exhausting to lose your own game.
Selfishly hated,
No wonder you’re jaded.
You can’t play the victim this time,
And you’re too late.

[Chorus]

You never call me when you’re sober.
You only want it cause it’s over,
It’s over.

How could I have burned paradise?
How could I – you were never mine.

[Chorus]

  1. I think call me when you are sober was upon the boy that amy lee saw several years ago. in winter 2004 she saw one spirit boy in her home.and call me when you are sober reports that moment time she had passed.however in order to make publicity stunt stop about this fact that amy lee has some little faint mental disease she hide every one that in winter of 2004 she has seen one hollow boy in her home.
