Exhibitions at Old Parliament House in Canberra, Australia, were promoted earlier this year with innovative animated commercials featuring cut-out figures.
The Mrs Prime Minister spot, as “Desperate Housewives meets Dame Pattie Menzies,” was developed at Zoo Group by creative director/art director/copywriter Ken Buchan with designer Mark Sulikowski. Buchan explains that he was asked to dramatise the role of a Prime Minister’s wife while highlighting features from the exhibition. He chose to incorporate Sonia McMahon’s famous ‘White House’ dress, romantic love letters from Joe and Enid Lyons and a shanghai slingshot owned by Pattie Menzies. Mrs Prime Minister was a finalist at the Australian Graphic Design Association Awards in October this year. Click on the image below to play the video.
Animation was done at Eye Candy Animation, directed by Damian Stock with Rachael Johnson and Joe Styles.
Leaks, Scoops and Scandals
The Zoo Design/Eye Candy team was also responsible for the promotion of “Leaks, Scoops and Scandals”, an exhibition featuring the “corridors, press rooms, and press sources throughout the last century”.
