International Day of Peace Cartoons

Today’s Site of the Day is the Peace Cartoon Gallery associated with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Afghan Peace Cartoon by Ali Zada

The UNAMA was set up to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan, working with the Afghan government and the international community. This year the UNAMA office has commissioned three well known Afghan cartoonists, Sargardan, Ali Zada, and Samedi, to produce seven peace cartoons each, on the theme of peace, for printing in newspapers, magazines and on websites over 21 days leading up to International Peace Day.

The United Nations’ International Day of Peace, marked every year on September 21, was established in 1982. All over the world individuals, communities, nations and governments are using this day to highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace.
