British Airways are promoting online booking by adding Google Earth features to their web site. The associated advertising campaign, online, print and television, has launched Google onto British televisions for the first time. The campaign follows the successful ‘Clouds’ campaign for British Airways.
The two British Airways Google Earth TV adverts feature clouds that show the prices of various destinations. “British Airways World Offers Is Now On”, says the voiceover. Sophie Barker sings a few lines from John Denver’s song, “Leaving on a jet plane”.
The first ad opens with Heathrow to Dubai for £239. The camera zooms out and back in again to take us to Hong Kong for £399, New York for £269. Google Earth then zooms right in to show a girl flying a kite. Click on the image below to play the video.
The second ad opens with Heathrow to Miami International for £299, Gatwick to Barbados for £389, and Heathrow to Los Angeles (LAX) for £329, zooming into to reveal a figure walking on a Los Angeles beach. Click on the image below to play the video.
The BA web site offers online users the opportunity of adding a British Airways skin, using the beta Google Earth version 4.0.
