Volvo Chase for Asthma Foundation

Volvo and the NSW Asthma Foundation in Australia have commissioned a short film to engage young adults in the ongoing struggle for a cure for the 2.2 million Australians who suffer from asthma. Every day six die. There is no cure.

Asthma agents in Chase

“Chase”, made in a similar vein to the BMW Hire films developed by Fallon, features agents racing the clock and armed opponents to achieve their seditious goal. Car chases, of course, feature a wide range of Volvo vehicles. Look out for the CSI-style ‘inside body’ effects.

Seven minutes of breathless action are followed by three minutes of credits and message. Unfortunately the message at the end comes in the last minute. Few would have the patience to wait until the end…

“The events in the film are purely fictional. Unfortunately, there is no cure for asthma, yet. Progress has been made in research with the advancement of medications, enabling most people with asthma to effectively manage their condition and get on with life. There is still a long way to go. If you’d like to assist in the search for a cure, please contact us today on 1800 645 130 or www.asthmansw.org.au

Asthma lung in Chase

“In the meantime it is important that you continue to take your asthma seriously to reduce the risk of an attack. Poorly managed asthma can cause permanent, long term damage to your lungs. For your free asthma action pack, visit our website today, www.2xhale.com.au”

  1. This is a terrible ad that could backfire very strongly for Volvo, maybe not in Australia, but certainly in Canada… Linking Volvo with all-male violent teams will certainly not help reinforcing the brand(Volvo for life). Volvo could have done something way more interesting with the fact that they care about non-allergenic car interior, which is one of the reason why I am a Volvo owner (my baby was very ill with asthma from pesticides and my dad died from it… We’re not joking here) On top of it, the movie is full of out-dated clichés that have been used so often that it could be perceived as lower standards from Volvo when it comes to partnerships with ad agencies… I do not recommend to show that kind of commercial in North America and I feel sorry for them… Swedish FB ad agency has been way more clever with Volvo ads; it’s worth looking at them…And we’re very, very far from the magnificent Volvo Life on board ads…
