SmartWool, the New England company using New Zealand merino wool, is using sibilant alliteration and cartoons to promote the range of socks, hats, gloves, sweaters and thermal underwear. These sheep are so clever they can stand in for seeing-eye guide dogs, hunting dogs and St Bernard’s snow patrol dogs. Of course, if they were really clever, they’d be talking about being shorn, not sheared.
