SandStory artist Joe Castillo is a sought after performance artist who uses sand scattered on a light box, formed and reformed to tell visually powerful stories set to music and projected onto screens. One of his most well known stories is “The Passion”, a retelling of the Easter story. Read on to see a sample of Joe’s Passion performance.

Joe Castillo’s 21 years in the advertising industry included 18 years with The Advertising Library, a full service agency he founded in Knoxville, Tennessee, with an emphasis on print media and event planning. He studied theology at Asbury Theological Seminary, pastored a church for five years before taking his artwork to the road full time.
